Sales of smart phones have not increased in the last two years. People now run their mobiles rather than upgrade them. However, statistical analysis company Strategy Analytics says global smart phone shipments have increased 2% in the quarter compared to the previous year.
Sales of smartphones stood at 359.8 million units in the second quarter of 2018 as against 366.3 million units in the second quarter of 2019.
Linda Sui, Director Strategy Analytics, says the rise in sales of smart phones is due to the mutual competition among companies, lowering prices and shifting consumers to the big screen and FiveG connectivity.
Sales of Samsung and Huawei smart phones have also increased significantly this year.
Samsung's sales increased 8% this year, while Huawei's sales increased by an amazing 29%.
Chinese consumers have bought Huawei's smart phones following US sanctions following US sanctions. Increased sales in the Chinese market have also compensated for the loss of US and European markets. According to Strategy Analytics, cheap iPhone Apple's position has also been stabilized by rising demand in 11 Asia and the United States.
Sales of Chinese phone maker Shumi have increased in India and China but in China it has had to compete with Huawei, Realme and Oppo. Oppo is expanding its business in Europe after China.
