Facebook is soon expanding its scope of end-to-end encryption. Facebook is experiencing end to end audio and video calls, says Jane Manchun Wong, an expert at identifying features that come from application code.
Facebook introduced the end-to-end encrypted chat feature in 2016.
The encryption technology that Facebook is using is also being used in the Signal app and Facebook's proprietary app WhatsApp.
Facebook will integrate end-to-end encryption into all its products, including Instagram. Authorities are always unaware of the end-to-end encryption features introduced by companies. Despite this feature, authorities cannot detect many crimes, such as child abuse, terrorism and election fraud.
