Yahoo is deleting its Groups website and all content |
Yahoo is eliminating one of its oldest features. The company is terminating Yahoo Group's website in two steps. Subscribers will no longer be able to post new content after October 28, while previously posted content will be deleted on December 14. Users can still sign in to their groups via email, but all groups will be made private later and will require admin approval to access them.
Users of groups can also download their data from the Privacy Dashboard (click here to visit). Users can also get their data directly from the post.
Yahoo introduced the groups in 2001 as a forum and mailing list. Soon it became home to a community of experts. With the advent of social media, its use was drastically reduced. After the closure of Yahoo's Justices platform, closing the groups was a big decision. With the closure of the groups Yahoo is closing an important chapter in Internet history.
