Uber has introduced a new feature to protect passengers from getting into the wrong car. This feature will be introduced in the US and Canada in the first phase. Passengers will also be given a PIN code on the ridebook. With this zip code they will be able to sit in the right car. Enabling this feature in the setting will require passengers to provide a PIN code to the driver before each ride.
Users can enable this feature for every ride or night (9am to 6pm).
Enabling this feature will not start a trip until the driver enters the code you provided in the app.
The company first introduced this feature in September. This feature was launched in only seven cities in December.
The company has not officially stated, but the feature was introduced after the murder of Samantha Josephine, a student, in the wrong vehicle.
The reason for introducing this feature is the incidence of passengers not paying attention to the model and number plate of the vehicle and riding the wrong vehicle.
