The default video quality will be SD on YouTube for the next one month
Last week, Google announced that it would reduce the default quality SD (standard definition) of all videos in the European Union to 480p. Apparently, the European Union cannot afford to be in the homes of all people at one time and enjoy HD video streaming.
At the World Epidemic of Cod-19, YouTube is now 480p increasing the quality of its videos worldwide.
In a few days YouTube users around the world will be able to watch videos for a month in default SD quality. However, this duration may increase after one month. So when you play a YouTube video it will be SD (480p). The resolution will go in, but users will be able to increase the resolution by themselves if they want.
To watch videos in high resolution, users have to increase the resolution each time they watch each video.
Google believes that people will not have to go through frequent resolution changes, and this will reduce the pressure on ISPs.
Billions of people around the world are currently locked up in their homes. Everybody is using Internet services, but no one has ever heard of internet shutting down. In such a way, reducing Google's default resolution may seem unnecessary. It seems that Google and other companies are taking precautionary measures to prevent the Internet from falling.
